Kids leaving early is a big problem at some School Dances. As a parent I feel much safer with my child at the school dance rather than leaving and going who knows where? When you ask the kids why they leave they say, ” The DJ is lame!”, or “the music stinks and it’s no fun here.”” I’d rather just go somewhere and hang with my friends. At least we can listen to whatever we want to there.”

Your main defense against this problem is hiring the right DJ. You probably don’t like the music your kids are listening to. I doubt that your parents enjoyed listening to the music of your choosing or their parents liked “Rock & Roll”. The fact is there is some trash out there today. But there’s alot of great dance music that the kids love too. The trick is picking appropriate “radio edited” music to hold their attention. Also mixing in a few classics, slow songs and favorite line dances will assure to keep the kids dancing.

Another way to hold the kids attention is DJ lighting. All the money spent on blow-up palm trees and expensive flower arrangements would be better spent on a DJ with a great lighting setup. I have intelligent lighting, strobes, lasers, bubbles and theatrical fog. Lighting multiplies the excitement of the music if it synchronized with the mood of the music. All this together works to keep your kid’s attention and keep them safely at the dance. I can’t promise your kids will have an “awesome” time and “stay” for the entire dance. However I can assure you with the right mix of music and the right lighting and special effects the kids are more likely to stay, and have a great time, Phillip.

 Madison Central High School Homecoming 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010

Phillp has been our homecoming DJ since 2005. We wouldn’t think of having anyone else. He’s the best! Lots of lights and effects and great music. Young enough to know what the students want to hear, but wise enough to know what’s appropriate!

You can leave off the last sentence if you want to. But it really is the truth!

Kosciusko High School Prom 2010

Phillip,
Thank you for a wonderful night. The kids had a great time. They didn’t even eat the steak supper we prepared as they couldn’t get off the dance floor. You did an awesome job. The night was one they will never forget. I asked and you delivered. Thank you for your professionalism and going the extra mile to make it a great night for the kids. I’ve already told next year’s class about you.

The light show you did for our son’s band was UNBELIEVABLE!!! It really added to the excitement of the event and it would not have been the same without it!

You have always exceeded my expectations with every event you have

done for us. Keep it up!!!

Richland High School Prom 2009

I have had the privilege of working with Phillip Cothern/DJ 51-50 on two separate events for Richland High School. The first event was our 2009 Prom at the Ag Museum and the most recent was for Project Graduation at MS Baptist Health Plex.

DJ 51-50 is very trustworthy, responsible and hard-working and very affordable. He prides himself in doing the best job possible by keeping up with technological advancements (great laser lights), and keeping an ear towards the most popular and appropriate music for each event. After I couldn’t get my seniors to turn in a song list, he stepped right up on a very short notice and played all the “popular” songs or took requests on the spot.

I cannot express how thankful we were to have DJ 51-50 as part of our special events! We had a blast on Grad Night! Our students and parents have all commented on how much fun the DJ/music was and how it truly made the night great and I could not agree more. Thank you for paying such close attention to what we needed and all the little details, you even made the “door prize” a fun event!!

Thank You again for a job well done!
